Dip into Dragonfly Day and discover a magical river just minutes from the heart of downtown Phoenix. The Saturday, March 29th event runs from 10AM to 2PM at the Phoenix Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area gateway located at 2439 S. Central Avenue and celebrates this year’s crop of dragonflies, newly arrived Monarch butterflies, native birds, plants, and wildlife, and of course water.
Featured exhibitors include butterfly, dragonfly, and nature experts, up-close displays of eagles, owls, hawks and other rescued birds-of-prey and the University of Arizona’s mobile quality lab. Participants can learn how to test water quality in the natural environment and at home. Face painting, artists, crafts, museum representatives, along with a kid’s scavenger adventure with prizes, and food vendors round out the program.
Brought to you by the City of Phoenix, the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, STormwater Outreach for Regional Municipalities (STORM), and the Arizona Riparian Council, this event is the signature event of this year’s Arizona SciTech Festival, a state-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and math encompassing the world of water and nature in conjunction with arts and culture.
