Patti Fenner, Friends of the Tonto National Forest, will present “Friends of the Tonto Riparian Photopoint Program”
Over the past 30 years volunteers with the Tonto Riparian Photopoint program have taken yearly photographs at hundreds of sites across the Tonto National Forest. The presentation will cover the purpose and procedures for this ongoing program. In addition, you will learn about its awesome web resource for viewing riparian changes over the decades; the vulnerability and resilience of riparian areas become evident over time. The monitoring principles apply to riparian areas on or off the forest. Students, biologists, ecologists, land managers, and others interested in the details of this year’s monitoring will learn of an opportunity to participate.
Patti earned her BS in Botany and MS in Natural Resources Management from Arizona State University. She worked as a Range/Watershed Manager on the Cave Creek Ranger District, Tonto National Forest for the next 22 years. In 2003 she was offered the opportunity to create the Noxious Weed Management Program for the Forest and served a 2-year term as President for the statewide weed management organization, SW Vegetation Management Association. After retirement in 2014, she founded the non-profit Friends of the Tonto National Forest.
