Field Trip to the Santa Cruz Flats, Pinal County — Saturday, November 10, 2018

The inland delta of the Santa Cruz River in Pinal County is a largely overlooked agro-ecological system with unique treasures. Author and biologist David Brown will lead this field trip. Stops will include the old Greene Reservoir, some extraordinary birding sites, and the Sasco area.

Robert D. Ohmart, 1938-2018

One of the titans of southwestern ecology has left us. Robert D. Ohmart passed away peacefully at his home in Chandler, Arizona on 14 January 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Ohmart’s team of field researchers conducted the seminal work that established the blueprint for habitat and wildlife needs in the Southwest.

The 2017 Fall Arizona Riparian Council campout will be Saturday-Sunday, October 7-8 at the Bonita Creek Campground ~ 20 miles northeast of Safford. Bonita Creek is a tributary of the lower Gila River Box has been cancelled.

Wa:k Hikdan Project Field Trip Tour

On April 10, 2015, the Arizona Riparian Council toured the Hik:dan Project, where the San Xavier District, Tohono O’odham Nation is using Central Arizona Project water to restore riparian ecosystem components to the Santa Cruz River.
